The 2013 Asia Pacific Oil & Gas Conference and Exhibition (APOGCE), co-organised by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) and Society of Indonesian Petroleum Engineers (IATMI), will be held 22–24 October 2013 in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The conference will highlight both projects and human capital through its theme "Maximising the Mature, Elevating the Young." Most projects in the Asia Pacific region are either under development (young) or in decline (mature) with both possessing different challenges altogether. With a big gap in the industry where mid-career professionals are scarce, it is imperative for experienced professional to do the balancing act of ensuring project quality while mentoring young professionals up to "stand-alone quality." Equally, our young members need to take charge of their development and seek from those who know.
In addition to the technical sessions, this conference will include energetic panel sessions on hot topics such as "Shale Gas Impact on Global Outlook," "Bridging the Demographic Gap in the Oil and Gas Industry," and "HSE Considerations in Unlocking Unconventional Reserves." The conference also features exciting activities for the young members, such as Young Professionals Workshop, Petrobowl, Student Paper Contest, Education Day and Teachers' Day.
