Emerging Trends in Corrosion Management—Stretching the Envelope

Emerging Trends in Corrosion Management—Stretching the Envelope

About this Workshop

Effective monitoring and mitigation of corrosion is a common challenge in the oil and gas industry for asset managers ranging from subsurface well structures to the loading terminals and beyond. The complexity of the corrosion management in maintaining ageing facilities is increasing with the shift towards HP/HT, sour and deeper horizons. While the industry has also developed and adopted innovative solutions to meet today’s challenges, there is no dearth of case histories where loss of containment due to corrosion damage has resulted in a major loss of life, property and the reputation of oil and gas operators.

This workshop will focus on emerging trends in corrosion mitigation technologies, strategies and best practices for the entire life cycle of the facilities. Dedicated sessions will address challenges in material selection at the design stage, new technologies in corrosion prediction, monitoring, data management and mitigation practices including the use of corrosion inhibitors, non-metallics and cathodic protection, etc. The advances in real time data acquisition techniques and an integrated approach to corrosion-related data management to facilitate pro-active corrosion control will also be discussed.

The workshop will cover both onshore and offshore operations and will provide an opportunity for surface and subsurface production and integrity engineers to identify synergies in effectively managing this common threat to asset integrity and reliability.
