The IWA Specialist Group on Metals
and Related Substances in Drinking Water 5th International Conference is
to be held in Shanghai, from 6th to 9th , November, 2013. The topic of
this conference is “Metals in water – health protection and
sustainability through technical innovation”. Water is one of the most
precious resources for humans and wildlife. However, metals pollution,
especially heavy metals, in water has arisen much concern in China and
other countries in the world. The variety and complexity of metals,
especially heavy metals, in water concern scientists, economists, policy
specialists and stakeholders aiming working together to identify new
approaches and solutions to protect human health. This conference will
focus on the strategies and technologies for controlling metal pollution
and the advanced analytical methods for detecting metal pollution in
water and its related media to protect human health. The success of our
well attended conferences results from fast growing knowledge and
associated needs for information, learning and networking.
The first objective of the conference is to bring together the best
international and Chinese experts (scientists, engineers, economists and
environmental decision makers) together to discuss and find solutions
to modern issues and challenges to metals in water. The second objective
is to provide an opportunity to understand the complex and diversified
situation of heavy metal pollution in China under great economic
development.
Conference Topics:
- Sampling and monitoring of metals in water
- Metals in water: biogeochemistry and toxicity
- Metals in water: health risk assessment
- New technologies and materials for metals removal from water
- Corrosion control in water supply systems
- Remediation of heavy metal polluted groundwater
- Interaction of zero valent iron with heavy metals
